Filmmaker Rohit Shetty reportedly received a fresh death threat on June 27 when an unidentified caller telephoned his personal assistant and demanded a ransom of Rs. 20 crore. Following the complaint, the Bombay police and the crime branch have launched an investigation to trace the caller.
Officials are also probing whether the new threat is connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the earlier firing case of February this year. The police had arrested 15 people connected to the gang after some miscreants fired bullets targeting Shetty.
According to a senior police officer, the latest call, prima facie, appears to be from an international number and seems to be a prank, but they are trying to trace the source.
