SC DIRECTS RAJPAL YADAV TO DEPOSIT RS. 5 CRORE FOR SURRENDER EXEMPTION | 10 September, 2026

The Supreme Court on September 8 granted actor Rajpal Yadav interim relief from surrendering in connection with seven cheque-bouncing cases, directing him to deposit Rs. 5 crore with its registry by September 9. A bench comprising Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi ans V. Mohana issued notice on Rajpal Yadav and his wife’s plea challenging the Delhi high court’s July order upholding their conviction.

The high court had earlier sentenced the actor to three months’ imprisonment in each case, with the sentences running concurrently, and imposed a fine of Rs. 1.05 crore in each matter.

The next hearing is scheduled for September 15.
