The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice to Netflix India over the Bombay Begums series. Taking cognisance of complaints from two Twitter handles which reported screen grabs from the series, showing teenage school children and cited the projection to be objectionable, the NCPCR directed the OTT platform to look into the matter and immediately stop screening the web series. The Commission has sought a report within 24 hours.
The NCPCR notice says, “…The Commission does not allow representing, portraying and glorifying children in India in such a manner on any media platform/internet/OTT etc.”
