Released last week in Bombay and Delhi-U.P., Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames’ Kaduva (dubbed from the Malayalam film of the same name; UA) is a revenge drama.
Kaduva (Prithviraj Sukumaran) has been wronged by police inspector general Joseph Chandy Ouseppukutty (Vivek Oberoi). Once Kaduva gets an opportunity, he seeks revenge on Joseph Chandy as well as all his accomplices including chief minister Ananthanathan (Janardhanan).
Jinu V. Abraham has written a routine and oft-repeated story and screenplay, which don’t have even a hint of novelty. The drama is unnecessarily loaded with too many characters and an excess of turns and twists. Dialogues are routine.
Prithviraj Sukumaran does well as Kaduva. Vivek Oberoi is so-so as Chandy. Samyuktha Menon is alright as Elsa. Arjun Ashokan lends ordinary support as Victor. Kalabhavan Shajohn (as Dominic Benjamin), Janardhanan (as chief minister Ananthanathan), Suresh Krishna (as the new chief minister), Seema (as Joseph Chandy’s mother), Priyanka Nair (as Joseph Chandy’s wife), Aarish Anoop (as Kaduva’s son, Chacko), Rahmath (as Kaduva’s daughter, Tessa), Vriddhi Vishal (as Kaduva’s daughter, Eva), Vijayakumar (as Rajeevan), Aneesh G. Menon (as Sunny), Sudheesh (as Mathai), and the others lend routine support.
Shaji Kailas’ direction is ordinary. Jakes Bejoy’s music doesn’t have much for the Hindi film-going audience. Camerawork (Abinandhan Ramanujam) is okay. Action and stunt scenes are fairly nice. Shameer Muhammed’s editing is loose. Dubbing is so-so.
On the whole, Kaduva is a flop show.
