Following filmmaker Shoaib Choudhary’s complaint regarding tough guidelines for shooting of films and web series on the Aligarh Muslim University campus, the AMU has reportedly eased some of the guidelines.
Instead of the requirement to submit the synopsis, final script, treatment, story boards and similar materials describing the project in detail, for approval by the expert committee of the AMU, the revised regulations require the producer to submit only synopsis and treatment for prior approval. There is still no time frame given, during which the authorities will grant permission to shoot.
The guideline for shooting charges — Rs. 1 lakh per day for a feature film, and Rs. 50,000 per day for a web series — remains unchanged.
Shoaib Choudhary wants to shoot some portions of his web series on AMU founder Sir Syed Ahmed Khan (1817-1898) on the AMU campus. He had been trying to get the University’s permission since 2019!
