The Bombay high court has directed Interpol to locate the two minor kids of producer Mushtaq Nadiadwala and verify their safety and the address given in the proceedings before a Lahore family court or any other place they reside, and also whether they are safe. The order was passed in a plea filed by Nadiadwala last year, seeking to know the whereabouts of his wife and children in Pakistan.
The Centre told the court, it was following up the matter with Islamabad. After hearing Interpol, the high court directed it to file an affidavit on the whereabouts of the children by February 15, 2024.
Mushtaq’s advocate told the court that his wife, who is a Pakistani national, had not complied with a June 2022 order of the Lahore family court directing her to arrange for communication of the minor children with their father through Skype or WhatsApp twice a month. The producer said, he last spoke to his children six months ago.
The Interpol told the court, it had issued a yellow corner notice, traced the children, conducted a welfare check and submitted the address in its report to the court. But Nadiadwala’s advocate argued that the wife kept changing her address which, therefore, needed to be verified, and which called for a fresh report. The matter was posted for the next hearing on February 16, 2024.
