Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan did very well in the first week but collections dropped markedly thereafter, as was expected. There was negative publicity from a larger section of the audience, and a positive word of mouth for the film from a smaller segment of the public, because of which collections came falling down after the excitement to watch a ‘different’ Ayushmann Khurrana starrer died down. The film netted a healthy Rs. 9.25 crore on the opening day. The partial holiday of Maha Shivratri, of course, helped boost collections. There was a jump of around 15% on Saturday which closed at Rs. 10.75 crore. The increase of a mere Rs. 25 lakh on Sunday (Rs. 11 crore) was a giveaway of things to come. After a weekend total of Rs. 31 crore, the film netted as follows during weekdays: Monday – Rs. 3.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 3 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.65 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.65 crore. By collecting Rs. 11.80 crore in the weekdays, the film took its total for the first week to Rs. 42.80 crore.

Bhoot Part One – The Haunted Ship did very ordinary in 1st week. It collected only Rs. 5.10 crore on the opening day, and the growth on the next two days was below the mark. The horror drama netted Rs. 5.52 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 5.74 crore on Sunday, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 16.36 crore. Collections on the weekdays were very average: Monday – Rs. 2.35 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.07 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.85 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.55 crore. By adding Rs. 7.82 crore to its kitty in the weekdays, the film took its total for the first week to Rs. 24.18 crore.
