It was an absolutely earth-shattering start for Dhurandhar: The Revenge on Wednesday (March 18) in the paid preview shows. The Dhurandhar sequel nailed it right from the word ‘go’. As if the mind-boggling initial in the paid preview shows weren’t enough, collections the following day (Thursday) were also historic. Consequently, the total for the first two days was mind-numbing, having almost touched the Rs. 150-crore mark!! The film netted Rs. 50 crore on Wednesday, which is a record for paid preview shows. The total for Thursday was Rs. 90 crore, a record again. Hence the total for the first two days was an unimaginable Rs. 140 crore. Collections dropped on Friday which closed at Rs. 81 crore. Therefore, the total for the first three days was Rs. 221 crore! Each day’s collection total was a record-breaking one. Today being Eid, the net collection figure may go up to Rs. 105-115 crore, which, again, is unprecedented. Going by the flying start and the extraordinary public reports of the film, it is all set to become the biggest blockbuster in the history of Indian cinema ever. That means, it will displace Dhurandhar as the numero uno film. Shows of the film were conducted all through the night on all the three days, which, again, is a new record.

The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond was steady in the third week also. The third weekend started with a take of Rs. 1.88 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday went up to Rs. 2.90 crore and Rs. 3.25 crore respectively. After a third weekend total of Rs. 8.03 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.45 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.80 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.64 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.13 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.02 crore. Hence the third week closed at Rs. 12.05 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 49.26 crore.

O’Romeo is in its last lap. It collected Rs.1.25 crore in 5th week, taking its grand total for 5 weeks to Rs. 60.75 crore.

Thanks to the first part, DHURANDHAR, turning out to be the blockbuster of the century, the response to the advance booking for the sequel is extraordinary. Sale of tickets will, of course, pick up even more as the date of release (19th March; paid previews on 18th) approaches.

The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond was steady at medium collections in the second week. The second weekend started with a take of Rs. 2.70 crore on Friday. Collections increased on Saturday to Rs. 3.75 crore. The total for Sunday (World Cup final cricket T20 match) was Rs. 3.30 crore. After a second weekend total of Rs. 9.75 crore, collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.40 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.90 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.44 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.39 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.13 crore. In this way, the total for 2nd week was Rs. 15.88 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 37.21 crore.

Assi is in its last lap. The film added just Rs. 1 crore to its kitty in the third week, taking its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 9.60 crore.

O’Romeo dropped more than 50% in 4th week. It netted Rs. 2.15 crore in the fourth week. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 59.50 crore.

Mardaani 3 netted Rs. 0.50 crore in the sixth weekend, and another Rs. 0.36 crore during the weekdays. With the total for the sixth week being Rs. 0.86 crore, the grand total for 6 weeks went up to Rs. 52.31 crore.

Tighee (Marathi) could not do well in the first week in Maharashtra.

The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond did fairly well in the first week, aided by the holidays — on Sunday and for Holi (on 3rd or 4th in different parts of the ocuntry, depending on when the festival of colours was celebrated). Collections were quite alright on 5th too at places where Holi was celebrated on 4th. The first weekend began with a net collection figure of Rs. 0.80 crore on Friday as the film opened only from the late evening shows following the court’s clearance granted to it. Collections on Saturday increased to Rs. 4.30 crore while the Sunday total was Rs. 4.40 crore. So the first weekend closed at Rs. 9.50 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 2.30 crore, Tuesday (partial holiday for Holi) – Rs. 3.50 crore, Wednesday (partial holiday for Holi) – Rs. 3.25 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.78 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 11.83 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 21.33 crore.

Nukkad Naatak bombed miserably in 1st week.

Collections on Saturday increased to Rs. 36 crore. The jump on Sunday was extraordinary so that the day closed at Rs. 50 crore. The film fared the best on Monday due to the Republic Day holiday with a net collection of Rs. 55 crore. Hence the first 4-day weekend closed at an earth-shattering Rs. 170 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Tuesday – Rs. 20 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 13 crore, Thursday – Rs. 10.75 crore. In this way, the total for the 3 weekdays was Rs. 43.75 crore. Hence the total for 1st week was Rs. 213.75 crore.

Mercy (dubbed) did below average business in the first week all over.

Avatar: Fire And Ash (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped around 70% but still managed to stay afloat in its sixth week. It netted Rs. 0.85 crore in the sixth weekend, and Rs. 0.65 crore during the weekdays (including Monday, which was a holiday due to Republic Day). In this way, the sixth week closed at Rs. 1.50 crore. Grand total for 6 weeks: Rs. 206.55 crore.

Dhurandhar managed to record respectable numbers in its eighth week too, in spite of the formidable opposition of new release Border 2. The eighth weekend began with a net collection of Rs. 0.65 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 1.25 crore and Rs. 1.70 crore respectively. After a weekend total of Rs. 3.60 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday (Republic Day holiday) – Rs. 1.55 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.50 crore. BORDER 2 swept the box-office yesterday (January 23) with an enviable initial. Although the first shows on the first day had to be cancelled at several cinemas due to a delay in content delivery, the film’s start could be described as excellent at the end of the day which closed at Rs. 30 crore!

Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos fared badly in the first week. The film netted Rs. 3.25 crore in the first weekend, and another Rs. 1.75 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the first week closed at only Rs. 5 crore.

Rahu Ketu failed to make a mark in 1st week. After a slow start, the first weekend closed at Rs. 3.50 crore while the total for the weekdays was just Rs. 2 crore. In this way, the film netted only Rs. 5.50 crore in 1st week.

Sagwaan met with a poor response at the turnstiles in 1st week.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (dubbed and the original English versions) fared badly in 1st week. It collected Rs. 0.65 crore in the first weekend, and Rs. 0.35 crore during the weekdays. Hence the first week closed at only Rs. 1 crore.

The Rajasaab (dubbed) crashed in the second week. With a frighteningly poor start in the first week, and given the fast and furious drop in collections thereafter, the film is poised to cause heavy losses to its producers/distributors. It managed to collect only Rs. 0.85 crore in the second weekend. Collections during the weekdays totalled Rs. 0.40 crore. In this way, the second week’s total was Rs. 1.25 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 17 crore.

Ikkis dropped even more in the third week and is now on its way out of the cinemas. It netted only Rs. 0.90 crore in the third weekend, and another Rs. 0.45 crore during the weekdays. Therefore, the film collected Rs. 1.35 crore in 3rd week. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 26.40 crore. Taking into account the block bookings on the first day (January 1), the total for 3 weeks was Rs. 28.40 crore.

Avatar: Fire And Ash (dubbed and the original English versions) dropped around 50% but still managed to stay afloat in its fifth week. It netted Rs. 3 crore in the fifth weekend, and another Rs. 2 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 5th week was Rs. 5 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 205.05 crore.

Dhurandhar was strong in the seventh week also. The seventh weekend started with a take of Rs. 1.70 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 3 crore and Rs. 3.15 crore respectively. After a seventh weekend total of Rs. 7.85 crore, collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 1.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.60 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.15 crore. The new releases of this week turned out to be major disappointments. HAPPY PATEL KHATARNAK JASOOS took a miserable start. RAHU KETU also cut a sorry picture of itself!

The Rajasaab (dubbed) failed to enthuse the audience. It fared miserably in the first week. Considering its super-high budget, collections of the first week were frighteningly poor. The film netted only Rs. 5.50 crore on the first day. Collections dropped to Rs. 3.25 crore on Saturday, and further to Rs. 3 crore on Sunday. The horrifyingly low collection figure for Sunday sealed the fate of the film! After a first weekend total of Rs. 11.75 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.15 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.85 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 15.75 crore.

Shambhala (dubbed) proved a non-starter in the first week.

Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate (dubbed) did not score with the Hindi-speaking audience in 1st week. Not even the blockbuster status of its original Gujarati language version helped attract the Hindi film-going audience to the cinemas.

Taking into account the block bookings on the first day (January 1), the total for 2 weeks was Rs. 27.05 crore.

Avatar: Fire And Ash (dubbed and the original English versions) did fair business in the fourth week in spite of a sizeable drop in collections. It joined the Rs. 200-crore club at the end of the fourth week. The fourth weekend netted Rs. 6.25 crore while the total for the weekdays was Rs. 4.25 crore. Therefore, the total for 4th week was Rs. 10.50 crore. Grand total for 4 weeks: Rs. 200.05 crore.

Dhurandhar raced ahead in the face of all competition. In just six weeks, it has become the biggest Hindi blockbuster of all times, outshining the previous best, Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 (dubbed). It collected Rs. 3.40 crore on the first day of the sixth weekend. Collections on Saturday jumped to Rs. 5.75 crore. With the total for Sunday going up to Rs. 6.35 crore, the sixth weekend closed at Rs. 15.50 crore. The grand total till the sixth weekend went up to Rs. 762.65 crore, which was more than the lifetime total (Rs. 760 crore) of Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 (dubbed). Collections for the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 2.20 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 2.65 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 2.75 crore, Thursday – Rs. 2.90 crore. The total for the weekdays was, therefore, Rs. 10.50 crore. Hence the total for the sixth week was Rs. 26 crore. Grand total for 6 weeks: Rs. 773.15 crore. If the block bookings of the first day are taken into account, the grand total for 6 weeks would be Rs. 778.15 crore.

Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam (Marathi) did extraordinary business in the second week in Maharashtra. In fact, collections in 2nd week were almost 60% more than in the first week.
