THE ODYSSEY opened to good houses yesterday (17th July). Collections in IMAX screens across the country were terrific even though admission rates were hiked. Premium seats sold for as high as Rs. 3,000! The film is reported to have netted Rs. 15.94 crore on the first day.
Dhamaal 4 did very well in the first week. It opened well with a net collection total of Rs. 14 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday jumped to Rs. 22 crore and further to Rs. 27 crore on Sunday. After a first weekend total of Rs. 63 crore, collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 8.25 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 9.25 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 6.50 crore, Thursday – Rs. 5.75 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 29.75 crore, the first week closed at Rs. 92.75 crore. The film should join the Rs. 100-crore club in the second weekend.

Evil Dead Burn (dubbed and the original English versions) performed well in 1st week. The original English version, which had opened on Thursday (July 9; net collection Rs. 0.55 crore), fared better, but the Hindi dubbed version was also good. The film netted Rs. 2.50 crore on Friday, Rs. 3.50 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 4 crore on Sunday, taking the first weekend total to Rs. 10 crore. If the collections of Thursday are also considered, the total for the first weekend would be Rs. 10.55 crore. Collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.75 crore, Tuesday Rs. 2 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.45 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.30 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 6.50 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 16.50 crore. Considering the first day’s (Thursday) collections, the first 8-day week closed at Rs. 17.05 crore.

Moana (dubbed and the original English versions) did ordinary in the first week. It netted Rs. 2.75 crore in the weekend, and another Rs. 1.25 crore during the weekdays. Hence the first week closed at Rs. 4 crore.

Alpha collections dropped markedly in the second week, as expected. The second weekend began with a net collection of Rs. 1.30 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 2.05 crore and Rs. 2.30 crore respectively. After a second weekend total of Rs. 5.65 crore, collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.65 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.90 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.60 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 2.75 crore. In this way, the second week closed at Rs. 8.40 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 56.80 crore.

Baby Do Die Do crashed in the second week. It collected only Rs. 1.50 crore in 2nd week, taking its grand total for 2 weeks to Rs. 5.61 crore.

Minions & Monsters (dubbed and the original English versions) faced an almost 75% fall in 2nd week. It netted approximately Rs. 1.50 crore in the second weekend, and Rs.0.75 crore during the weekdays. Hence the total for 2nd week was Rs. 2.25 crore. Grand total for 2 weeks: Rs. 10.63 crore.

Welcome To The Jungle faced a steep fall in 3rd week, thanks in no small measure to the opposition of Dhamaal 4, a film in the same genre, which released last week. It started the third weekend with a net collection of Rs. 0.90 crore on Friday. Collections more than doubled on Saturday which, therefore, closed at Rs. 1.85 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 2.10 crore, taking the third weekend’s total to Rs. 4.85 crore. Collections for the weekdays were dull: Monday – Rs. 0.45 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.60 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.30 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.30 crore. With the total for the weekdays being Rs. 1.65 crore, the third week closed at Rs. 6.50 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 127.65 crore.

Main Vaapas Aaunga netted Rs. 2 crore in the fifth weekend, and another Rs. 1.25 crore during the weekdays. Hence the fifth week closed at Rs. 3.25 crore. Grand total for 5 weeks: Rs. 62.80 crore.
