Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, was today (October 8) denied bail by the metropolitan magistrate court. The Esplanade court yesterday sent him, and seven others arrested along with him in the drugs-on-cruise case, to judicial custody for 14 days. All the accused have tested negative for COVID-19 and are being taken to jail from the office of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the custody of which they were till October 7. They could not be sent to jail yesterday as the court order for judicial custody was delivered late in the evening and also because the COVID-19 tests of the accused were to be done.
The metropolitan magistrate court said, the court which has the authority to grant bail is the sessions court. Aryan’s advocate, Satish Maneshinde, argued that the metropolitan magistrate court can grant bail. He also argued that his client cannot be held as no contraband was found on his person.
