Deepika Padukone, chairperson of the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, in her opening speech at the launch of the 21st Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star, said that she was committed to helping the festival achieve its vision. The festival was inaugurated on 17th October at Rang Mandir auditorium in Bombay amidst a bevy of celebrities not just from India but from the world over.
In her welcome address, Isha Ambani (board of trustees, MAMI, and director, Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail) said that this was the fifth year of Jio’s association with MAMI. “It has been fulfilling to grow and nurture a platform that has turned into a global event. Just like the festival, our ambition and vision for it broadens every year. Our commitment to building this platform and consistently pushing cinema as an agent of change, conversation and creative expression is resolute.” The evening was hosted by Soha Ali Khan.
