‘LAFZON MEIN PYAAR…’ REVIEW | 4 August, 2023

Monarch Films’ Lafzon Mein Pyaar… is a love triangle.

Raj (Vivek Mishra) leaves his father’s (Lalit Parimoo) home and starts living with a family acquaintance, Geeta bhabhi (Anita Raaj). On the latter’s insistence, Raj starts music classes as he is musically inclined. In the music class, Raj meets Priya (Kanchan Rajput) and treats her as a good friend but she starts to love Raj. One day, Geeta’s husband calls her up from abroad and confesses that he has an illegitimate daughter and has willed all his property to her. Geeta is distraught but she doesn’t know who the daughter is. She asks Raj to help her find the illegitimate daughter of her husband. Around the same time, Raj returns to his home to look after his father who has taken ill.

Raj’s father fixes Raj’s marriage with Shivani (Vaani Dogra), daughter of his friend, Narendra (Sarwar Mir). Meanwhile, Raj starts enjoying the company of Priya and also starts writing shaayris for her. Here, Shivani’s father dies and she is left alone in this world.

One day, Raj’s friend, Mayank (Parsant Rai), introduces him to a producer who is willing to bring out an album of Raj’s shaayris. The producer even gives Raj a signing amount. Around that time, Raj realises that Priya is none other than the illegitimate daughter of Geeta bhabhi‘s husband. Instinctively, he starts hating Priya. As time passes, Raj’s album is released and it becomes a hit. There’s a party organised to felicitate Raj for the success of the album. Raj invites Priya for the party. What happens thereafter? Does Raj marry Shivani or Priya?

Yasomati Devi and Dhiraj Mishra have written a routine story devoid of novelty. Even their screenplay moves ahead on the tried and tested path. As a result, there are neither surprises nor shocks for the audience. Although it is a love triangle, romance in the drama is minimal. There are no emotions, and comedy is also conspicuous by its absence. The duo’s dialogues are average.

Vivek Mishra is okay in the role of Raj. Kanchan Rajput does a fair job as Priya. Vaani Dogra is so-so as Shivani. Anita Raaj lends average support as Geeta. Zarina Wahab is ordinary in the role of Raj’s mother. Lalit Parimoo provides routine support as Raj’s father. Parsant Rai passes muster as Mayank. Sarwar Mir is okay in a brief role as Narendra. Megha Joshi (as Priya’s friend, Ranjita) and Mahima Gupta (as Raj’s ex-girlfriend, Tina) provide dull support.

Dhiraj Mishra and Raja Randeep’s direction does not have the spark. Vicky Ani and Atif Ali’s music is routine. Lyrics (by Ashok Sawhny ‘Sahil’) are just about okay but the shaayris are nice. Sarika Shirodkar’s choreography is weak. Background music (by Pankaj V. Saini and Shyam Sarthi) is dull. Birchandan Singh’s camerawork is not up to the mark. Prakash Jha’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Lafzon Mein Pyaar… is a flop show.

Released on 4-8-’23 at Inox Malad (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru VRG Media. Publicity & opening: very dull. …….Also released all over.
