Serene Films’ Dropout is the story of a young man who is torn between his dreams and society’s expectations. He struggles with failure, self-doubt and identity while he navigates academic pressure and career uncertainty.
Umashanker Yadav’s story is not very engaging. Omkar Pethkar’s screenplay is routine and quite predictable. The drama offers no novelty or shock value. Omkar Pethkar’s dialogues are commonplace.
Uday Singh plays Pankaj routinely. Tanushka Sharma is average as Aastha. Umashanker Yadav is so-so as the senior Pankaj. Preeti Chauhan lends ordinary support as the mother. Amlesh Jaiswal passes muster as Babuji. Sumit Shrivastava is okay as Bhaiya. Rajendra Gupta is earnest as Anjaan. Mushtaq Khan does a sincere job as the lecturer. Others fit the bill.
Omkar Pethkar’s direction is dull. Prajval Param’s music, and Dr. Sagar’s lyrics are functional. Background music is just about passable. Indrajeet Kumar’s camerawork hardly deserves special mention. Rahul Rajput’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Dropout will be out of the cinemas without doing anything worthwhile at the box-office.
