‘GOOD LUCK’ REVIEW | 5 April, 2024

Asha Azad Films’ Good Luck (UA) is the story of a family which is in for a shock when a 70-year-old member of the family announces that she is pregnant.

Angoori (Malti Mathur) is a 70-year-old who lives in Ujjain with her son, Pappi (Brijendra Kala), daughter-in-law, Sharmilee (Manisha Chitrode), and grandson, Brahmdutt (Ashutosh Upadhyay). One day, she announces that she is pregnant. Her entire family is embarrassed and doesn’t even know how to react. Son Pappi is scared that the news would result in him losing the elections which he is contesting. So he announces that his mother, Angoori, is dead. This news brings Angoori’s married daughter, Shobha (Tulika Banerjee), and her husband, Chunchun (Dr. Azad Jain), to Ujjain. What happens thereafter? Is Angoori really pregnant?

Prakhar Shrivastava has written a story which reminds of Badhaai Ho. The screenplay, penned by Abhishek Manoharchanda and Prakhar Shrivastava, is not very funny or interesting. Therefore, the drama actually bores the audience when it is meant to entertain and tickle their funny bone. The revelation of the pregnancy drama is so tame and silly that it puts off the viewers. The duo’s dialogues are commonplace.

Malti Mathur is average as Angoori. Brijendra Kala does a fairly nice job as Pappi. Manisha Chitrode provides routine support in the role of Sharmilee. Dr. Azad Jain passes muster as Chunchun. Tulika Banerjee is ordinary as Shobha. Ashutosh Upadhyay’s performance (as Brahmdutt) is nothing to shout about. Keshav Sharma (as Kadam) and Virendra Nathaniel (as tailor Lala) pass muster. Others pass muster.

Prakhar Shrivastava’s direction is very weak. Jaydeep Hora’s music is barely functional. Mukesh Sanket’s lyrics are dull. Rohit Ameriya’s choreography is ordinary. Background music (Total Audio Works) fails to add much to the drama. Deepak Pandey’s camerawork is commonplace. Chandrashekhar Yadav’s art direction is hardly worth a separate mention. Manish Pradhan’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Good Luck cannot hope to succeed at the turnstiles even if it has all the luck in the world.
