‘LORII’ REVIEW | 3 May, 2024

Sairam A Creative World’s Lorii (UA) is the story of the affection between a mother and her daughter. The film has a social message too. A girl sets out in search of her missing mother and is shocked with what she learns.

Rajiv Krishna Revndkar has written an insipid story and a juvenile screenplay, both of which are far from entertaining. The drama is so tame that it never manages to involve the viewers. Nothing in it ever excites the audience or even engages them. Rajiv Krishna Revndkar’s dialogues are pedestrian.

Pankti Patil is ordinary as Seema. Avinash Kavathankar is unimpressive in the role of Raghu. Abhilasha Gaira fails to make any mark as Damini. Pratibha Shimpi passes muster as Sumati. Ranjit Das lends dull support as Keshav Pandit. Shaan Kakkar is weak as Ajay Pandit. Raj Kumar Dherange and Arti Shinde are barely passable. Others lend weak support.

Rajiv Krishna Revndkar’s direction is pathetic. Music (by Altaf Shaikh and Sudhir) is passable. Altaf Shaikh’s lyrics hardly pass muster. Vishal Patil and Shashi Dakshan’s choreography is nothing to shout about. Background music is dull. Kumar Dongre’s camerawork is poor. Master Raju Das’ action and stunts are devoid of thrill. Raju Mali’s sets hardly deserve separate mention. Kumar Dongre does a poor job of the editing.

On the whole, Lorii is a disaster of a film.

Released on 3-5-’24 at Glamour (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Jadhav Films. Publicity & opening: horrifyingly poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was terrible everywhere.
