YFN Worldwide Movies and LIV Worldwide Productions Ltd.’s The Heist (UA) is the story of how an investigative agent joins forces with a con artiste to loot a billionaire of his ill-gotten wealth.
Viren Shah (Siddhanth Kapoor) has committed frauds in India and is now settled in Mauritius after changing his name to Gautam Sehgal. An investigation agency handles the case of bringing back his ill-gotten wealth. Agent Ananya Bakshi (Suman Rao) heads the investigation team. She reaches Mauritius on learning that Viren Shah is there. In Mauritius, she joins hands with Neel (Nad Sham) to fool Viren Shah and run away with his ill-gotten wealth.
The story (not credited to anyone) is so routine that it is not even worth a comment. Nikita Chaturvedi Tishya’s screenplay is silly and predictable. Nothing in the drama engages the viewers. Even her dialogues are dull.
Suman Rao does an average job as Ananya Bakshi but she is not heroine material. Nad Sham is okay in the role of Neel. Siddhanth Kapoor is alright as Viren Shah. Jagat Rawat lends ordinary support as Xavier. Pratyaksh Rajbhatt is so-so as Ryan. Tasneem Khan performs routinely as Suzi. Saurabh Saraswat hardly stands out as Rahul. Nandini Gupta is okay in a special appearance. Others pass muster.
Aditya Aawaandhe’s direction is weak. Music (Yug Bhusal and Saurabh Singh Senger) is below the mark. Lyrics (Himanshu Kohli, Gauranga Shekhar Sharma, Subhashish Upadhyay and Rajnish Yadav) are ordinary. Swarupraj Medara’s choreography is hardly passable. Praful Karlekar’s background music is not up to the mark. Anirudha Nakhare’s camerawork is alright. Kajal Kumar Das’ art direction hardly deserves mention. Amol Vijay Khanvilkar’s editing is loose.
On the whole, The Heist is a poor fare and will meet with a disastrous fate.
