Star Angel Film Productions’ Rocky The Slave (UA) is the story of a young man who avenges his mother’s murder by killing the murderer.
James John Barla’s story is so hackneyed that it doesn’t offer excitement to the viewers. His screenplay is replete with scenes one has seen in countless earlier films. Consequently, the drama turns out to be so insipid that the audience feel disconnected from the proceedings. Even the dialogues are dull.
Shakti Kapoor does an ordinary job. Dalip Tahhil is average. Sudesh Berry is so-so. Gavin Packard fails to impress. Mushtaq Khan is dull. Pradeep Kabra is barely passable. Harry Josh delivers a dull performance. Leslie Tripathi is not up to the mark. Richard Barla performs poorly. Nishant Rajora’s acting hardly deserves separate mention. Sharmila is weak. Jay Kalgutkar is unimpressive. Tejas lends routine support. Others don’t add much to the drama.
James John Barla’s direction is no better than his pathetic script. Music is a letdown and so are the lyrics. Rajeev Surti’s song picturisaions are dull. Sameer Phaterpekar’s background music is below average. Camerawork (Nagraj M. Divakar and Raju K.G.) is not up to the mark. Vicky Godino’s production designing is poor. Editing (Pramod Naidu and Manoj Sankla) leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Rocky The Slave is so poor that it will turn out to be a disaster at the ticket windows.
Released on 26-7-’24 at Glamour (daily 1 show) and another cinema of Bombay by Star Angel Film Productions. Publicity & opening: weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was frighteningly poor everywhere.
