With just a day left for the Diwali fireworks to start at the box-office, the trade seems to have become divided. It is almost as if the battle lines have been drawn. While there are many in the trade who feel, Singham Again will outdo Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, there are almost the same number of people who swear by the horror comedy and feel, it will overtake the multi-star cast action film.
So what actually is in store for the Diwali weekend? Chances are that both the films will score big time at the ticket windows. After all, both the films are the third parts of successful franchises. Besides, the trailers of both the films have been extremely well received. The music of both the films has not created too much of an impact so it is not as if the competition on that count is skewed in favour of any one film. Since it is the Diwali weekend, the advance bookings of both the films have been very good. Of course, the advance sale of tickets would’ve been far better had the plans opened earlier. But since the issue of showcasing got resolved only last evening (October 29), the advance booking counters in many multiplexes commenced only late last evening.
Frankly, the outcome of both the films will depend upon the audience reaction in the cinema halls. One will have to compare the laughter and shrieks in the horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, with the whistles and claps in the third film of the Singham franchise. That there will be reaction of laughter and screams in BB 3 is a foregone conclusion just as one can safely predict that the cinema halls will echo with rounds of applause in scenes of heroism in action drama Singham Again. What will decide which film will score more and which less is the quantum of audience reaction. Since the reaction in both the films will be of different kinds, one will have to base one’s judgement about the business of the two films broadly on the quantum of reaction. In other words, the more the reaction, the better will be the business, broadly speaking.
May the best film win the box-office race! And may both the films score big time at the turnstiles!!
