The Worli (Bombay) police on October 29 arrested a 56-year-old man from Bandra (Bombay) for allegedly sending two messages to the Bombay traffic police helpline WhatsApp number threatening to kill actor Salman Khan and politician Zeeshan Siddique if he was not paid Rs. 2 crore. The accused, Azam Mohammed Mustafa, also said that the recent murder of Zeeshan’s father, NCP leader Baba Siddique, was a warning for the actor and Zeeshan. The arrest was made within hours of the threat message. Mustafa was remanded to police custody for a day.
Earlier too, there was a threat message for the actor. The first threat message on the WhatsApp helpline had been received on October 17 followed by an apology on October 21. The Worli police had arrested Shaikh Hussain, a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur, last week for allegedly sending the threat message on October 17, demanding Rs. 5 crore.
The police seized the mobile phone allegedly used to send the messages on October 29, and are questioning Mustafa. He had worked as a production manager in Saudi Arabia.
The arrest of Azam Mohammed Mustafa came a day after the Bombay police apprehended Mohammed Tayyab alias Gufran Khan from NOIDA for allegedly making a call and sending messages to Zeeshan Siddique’s office helpline in Bombay, claiming that he had overheard people planning to kill him and Salman. Tayyab told the police that he expected to be rewarded for providing the death threat information.
The police said, Mustafa and Tayyab did not have previous criminal records. The police will send Mustafa’s phone for forensic analysis.
