‘ANVESHAN’ REVIEW | 19 September, 2025

Mahashakti Productions’ Anveshan is a murder mystery.

Six horticulture students go to a resort in Jharkhand for seven days to work on a project on plants for their Ph.D. The resort is looked after by a caretaker and it has a gardener too. The stay of the students turns into a nightmare because strange things start happening to them and they are murdered one by one. However, the murders seem to be unique because no weapon whatsoever is found. Who is the murderer and what is his motive? How many students survive?

Mohammed Ismail’s story is so routine that it simply fails to impress or engage the audience. His screenplay beats the treaden path and hence the viewers passively watch the drama unfold, without getting involved. Even the revelation of the suspense is devoid of excitement. Mohammed Ismail’s dialogues are ordinary.

Mushtaq Khan performs routinely. Ajay Kumar Singh is so-so. Rajkumar Kanojia passes muster. Deboshree Chakraborty is okay. Captaini Armaan does an average job. Rupsha Banerjee is just about ordinary. Rahul Sil hardly impresses. Charni Bharadwaj is barely passable. Anjali Verma is dull. Jitesh Asiwal’s acting is nothing to shout about. Gargi Kundu is average. Others are below the mark.

Mohammed Ismail’s direction is weak. Milan-Suman’s music is dull. Lyrics aren’t impressive. Anurag Mehta’s choreography is nothing to dance about. Camerawork (by Abhishek Chatterjee) is fair. Swarup Das’ art direction is functional. Mohammed Ismail’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.

On the whole, Anveshan is a flop show.

Released on 19-9-’25 at Super (daily 1 show) and another cinema of Bombay thru Mat Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was horrifyingly weak everywhere.
