KOTI (Marathi) | 8 November, 2019

OMS Arts’ Koti (Marathi, meaning ‘Doubtful mentality’) is the story of an effeminate boy.

Shyam (Divyesh Medge) is effeminate. His father (Sanjay Kulkarni) hates him for his girlish ways. The father constantly beats him up because he can’t stand him and also because of his loss of face in society. Why, he even curses his luck and blames his wife for not killing Shyam. Shyam’s younger brother, Babrya (Aadnyesh Mudshingakar), is very fond of him and raises his voice when their father wants to send Shyam away from their abode.

Raj Durge’s story and screenplay are alright and do have a couple of emotional moments but the drama fails to really move the audience or hold their attention for long. Even his dialogues don’t create much impact.

Master Aadnyesh Mudshingakar does a fair job as Babrya. Master Divyesh Medge is okay as Shyam. Sanjay Kulkarni performs ably as the strict father. As the mother, Vinita Kale is quite good. Sandesh Jadhav and the others lend reasonable support.

Suhas Bhosle’s direction is commonplace. Baban Adagale and Manoj Negi’s music as well as background score are routine. Sanjay Navgire’s lyrics are so-so. Bharat R. Parthsarthi’s camerawork is average. Devdas Bhandare’s art direction is okay. Sagar Vanjari’s editing could’ve been sharper.

On the whole, Koti is a dull fare with bleak chances.
