‘Sardar Udham’ Postponed | 13 March, 2020

No sooner did Aditya Chopra announce that his Jayeshbhai Jordaar will release on Gandhi Jayanti day in place of Excel Entertainment’s Toofaan than the other release of October 2 was postponed. Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Kaushal starrer, Sardar Udham (the ‘Singh’ in the title has been dropped), will now hit the screens on 15th January, 2021.

A press release from Rising Sun Films reads: “80 years ago, March 13, 1940, Sardar Udham Singh singlehandedly assassinated Michael O’Dwyer (seeking revenge for the brutal Jallianwala Bagh massacre) in London. It sparked the Indian Freedom movement.

“Such a significant story deserves justice on screen, and hence the makers have decided to present Sardar Udham in 2021 as a solo release!”

The film is produced by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.
