Cinemas in Maharashtra have been ordered to continue functioning at 50% occupancy only, in view of the increasing coronavirus cases in the state. The rule will be in force till March 31.
The Centre had permitted cinemas to operate at more than 50% capacity from 1st February subject, however, to the state governments endorsing it. While many state governments, one after the other, allowed cinemas in their respective states to work at 100% capacity, the Maharashtra government did not allow cinemas in the state to do so. In view of the second outbreak of coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has clarified that cinemas will continue to function at 50% capacity till March 31.
