‘THE CROODS: A NEW AGE’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 10 September, 2021

DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods: A New Age (dubbed from the Hollywood film of the same name; animation; UA) is a sequel to The Croods. It is the story of the pre-historic Crood family which discovers a walled-in paradise while searching for a safer habitat. Unfortunately, that’s not the end of their problems. Rather, it is the beginning of new tensions. For, they must learn to live with the Bettermans, a family which is a couple of steps above the Croods, on the ladder of evolution. There comes a time when the Bettermans and the Croods have to bury their differences and survive together.

Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders have written a story which is not very appealing. The screenplay, penned by Dan Hageman, Kevin Hageman, Paul Fisher and Bob Logan, is not very engaging. The audience watches the drama unfold on the screen without getting involved. Also, there are too many characters, which makes the screenplay confusing at places.

Voice acting of the animated characters is good. Joel Crawford’s direction is so-so. Mark Mothersbaugh’s background music is fair. Nate Wragg’s production designing is good. James Ryan’s editing needed to be sharper. Dubbing is alright.

On the whole, The Croods: A New Age is a poor fare.

Released on 10-9-’21 all over except in Maharashtra, Assam and Kerala. Publicity & opening: very poor. …….The original English version has also released simultaneously.
