Sankalp Motion Films’ Aashray (Marathi) is the story of sacrifice. A girl, who had been adopted by a lady years ago, herself adopts a little girl thrown in the dustbin. She sacrifices all her dreams to look after the small girl, just like her foster mother had cared for her after adoption.
Abhishek Sanjay Phade’s story is dull and boring. Dixit Sarvade’s screenplay is no better than the story. The drama fails to involve the viewers. Dixit Sarvade’s dialogues just about pass muster.
Shweta Pagar does a fair job. Nishigandha Wad delivers a fine performance. Amey Barve is alright. Sunil Godbole and Deepali Kulkarni lend routine support. Others are ordinary.
Direction (by Ramesh Popat Nanavare and Santosh Sahebrao Kapase) is weak. Vishal Borulkar’s music and Aarti Phade’s lyrics are nothing to shout about. Song picturisations (by choreographers Vishal Kamble and Bhagyashree Thorat) are so-so. Ajinkya Jain’s background music is ordinary. Raju Deshmukh and Prathamesh Shirke’s cinematography is functional. Manoj Nimbalkar’s sets are average. Pradeep Panchal’s editing is loose.
On the whole, Aashray is a poor show and will face rejection at the box-office.
Released on 1-4-’22 at Movie Time Goregaon (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Anup Jagdale Film Distributors. Publicity & opening: very poor.
