‘SAMRENU’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 13 May, 2022

MR Films World’s Samrenu (Marathi; UA) is a love story based in a village. Samya (Mahesh Dongre) and Renu (Ruchita Rahul Mangde) love one another but their love story faces obstacles.

Mahesh Dongre has penned a story and screenplay which borrow liberally from earlier films. Therefore, there is no novelty whatsoever in the drama. If the romance fails to warm the cockles of the heart, the emotions fall flat. Comedy is missing. Dongre’s dialogues are routine.

Mahesh Dongre hardly looks like a hero. As Samya, his acting is average. Ruchita Rahul Mangde does an ordinary job in the role of Renu. Bharat Ligam and the others lend ordinary support.

Mahesh Dongre’s direction is rather dull. Suraj-Dhiraj’s music is nothing to shout about. Lyrics (Guru Thakur and Kshitij Patwardhan) are quite nice. Abhijeet Bhaskar’s camerawork is fair. Editing (Apurva Motiwale and Ashish Mhatre) is alright.

On the whole, Samrenu is a love story which will fail to find a place in people’s hearts.

Released on 13-5-’22 at Jai Hind Mukta A2 (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Panorama Studios. Publicity & opening: poor.
