AE Creatives and Brandex Entertainment’s Modi Ji Ki Beti is a film about mistaken identity. Avani Modi (Avani Modi) is an actress who tells a television channel that she is PM Modi ji’s daughter, and, like her, every girl in India is Modi ji’s daughter. The channel edits her comment in such a way that it appears as if Avani Modi is actually PM Modi’s daughter. This video goes viral and Avani’s popularity soars. Two trainee terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Bilal (Pitobash Tripathi) and Tauseef (Vikram Kochhar), are eager to become dreaded terrorists but they have been thrown out by their trainer, Sajjad Khan (Rajveer Ahuja), because both are idiots. Taking Avani Modi to be PM Modi’s daughter, Bilal and Tauseef decide to kidnap Avani. They cross over to Kashmir of India where Avani has come for a song picturisation. After kidnapping Avani, they take her to Pakistan. But they soon get to know that Avani is not Modi’s daughter. They decide to leave her back in India, but Avani doesn’t want to leave Pakistan so soon as her kidnapping has made headline news in India due to which her popularity is soaring. Bilal and Tauseef involve Sajjad Khan who kills the duo and captures Avani. In the meantime, Pakistan’s Major Omar (Tarun Khanna) is assigned the task of rescuing Avani from her kidnappers. What happens thereafter?
Avani Modi’s story and screenplay are so implausible and kiddish that it is weird. It seems silly to even imagine that anyone would not know that Avani Modi is not PM Modi’s daughter. A serious crime like the kidnapping of a girl, assumed to be the Indian Prime Minister’s daughter, is treated with such immaturity as far as the scripting is concerned that the drama just doesn’t hold the audience’s attention or interest. The proceedings neither make the audience laugh nor do they shock them. It all looks so farcical that the viewers don’t take anything seriously. In other words, the audience fails to get involved or engaged in the drama. Avani Modi’s dialogues are ordinary.
Avani Modi does an average job as Avani Modi. Pitobash Tripathi is alright as Bilal. Vikram Kochhar is ordinary in the role of Tauseef. Tarun Khanna does a fair job in a brief role as Major Omar. Rajveer Ahuja lends routine support in the role of Sajjad Khan. Kavita Ghai is so-so. Pyarali Nayani (as the Pakistani ambassador) and Aditya Yadav (as the surveillance officer) pass muster.
Eddy Singh’s direction is dull. His narration does not succeed in holding the audience’s interest. Music (Marc D. Muse-Parry G., Uzair Khan Chughtai and Santokh Singh) is below the mark. Lyrics are nothing to shout about. Song picturisations (by D.C. David and Jasmine Oza) are functional. Vijay Verma’s background music is amateurish. Subhransu Das’ camerawork is okay. Ajay Thakur Pathania’s action and stunt scenes lack thrill. Art direction (Dinesh Shinde and Amarchand) hardly merits mention. Pravin Angre’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Modi Ji Ki Beti is a poor show all the way.
Released on 14-10-’22 at Gossip (daily 4 shows) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Aum Exhibitors. Publicity & opening: poor. …….Also released all over. Opening was weak everywhere.
