Yukta Productions and Dwijraj Films’ Gairee (Marathi; UA) is the story of two Adivasi friends, Luv (Mayuresh Pem) and Binya (Pranav Raorane), who want to become doctors. With this aim, the two proceed to the city. Do they realise their dream?
Pandurang Jadhav has written a story and screenplay, which seek to titillate rather than entertain. While some scenes do titillate, the overall drama is so weak and dull that it’s not funny. Jadhav’s dialogues border an vulgarity in a bid to titillate.
Mayuresh Pem does an average job as Luv. Pranav Raorane is ordinary as Binya. Namrata Gaikwad is so-so. Ketan Pawar, Devika Daftardar, Pandurang Jadhav and Anand Ingale lend routine support.
Pandurang Jadhav’s direction is very weak, just like his script. Amitraj’s music is below the mark. Lyrics (by Guru Thakur and Vishnu Thore) lack appeal. Phulawa Khamkar’s choreography is nothing to shout about. Mayuresh Kelkar’s background music should’ve been better. Camerawork (by Vinod Patil) is ordinary. Vaibhav Bhosle’s sets hardly deserve separate mention. Vijay Khochikar’s editing is rather loose.
On the whole, Gairee is a flop show all the way.
Released on 16-12-’22 at Gem (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor.
