Singer Sonu Nigam has warned citizens not to fall prey to a fake social media account created by an unknown person in his (Sonu Nigam) name and demanded funds for his charitable trust. The social media page shows the singer requesting his fans for money.
The page, which has a woman’s photograph, with Sonu’s name, reads, “Hello, I’m Erica from Sonu Nigam’s social media management team. My team and I were instructed to contact some of his active fans. Okay, you were selected among the very lucky few contacted to have a personal conversation with him directly. Which is the directive from Sonu Nigam.”
A post by the real Sonu Nigam on July 28 says, “My dear family and friends… Someone’s working very hard to make ‘honest’ Money… Do have a look… And beware…”
Sonu is a patron-in-chief of Artium Academy. Its CEO, Ashish Joshi, said that no specific amount was demanded, but the scamsters created the singer’s fan club and siphoned money from his fans.
