Producers of Gujarati films have written to the I & B ministry, requesting that a regional office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) be opened in either Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar in Gujarat. They feel that a committee of local members form the state will ensure that producers hailing from Gujarat and Rajasthan can show their films to the CBFC in the Gujarat regional office and thereby save time and money which is spent in making trips to Bombay as at present.
Many Gujarati film producers met on 17th December in Ahmedabad to discuss this issue. The meeting also signed a memorandum requesting the state government to re-establish the Gujarat Film Development Corporation to support good Gujarati films.
The initiative for the above was taken by Abhilash Ghoda, Deepak Antani and Rakesh Pujara.
