‘MUSAFIRA’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 2 February, 2024

Anand Pandit Motion Pictures, Aish Motion Pictures, Nitin Vaidya Productions and Goosebumps Entertainment’s Musafira (Marathi; UA) is about a reunion trip which five friends undertake after 15 years. The trip brings up unresolved conflicts of the past and tests their friendship. Will true friendship weather the storm of conflicts?

Emeara’s story is not new as films based on similar story-lines have already been seen in the past. Emeara’s screenplay, with additional screenplay by Pushkar Jog, is ordinary. The drama doesn’t flow naturally but often seems contrived. Actually, the viewer gets the impression that the trip has been undertaken to rake up the past, which is actually not the case. Oftentimes, the drama treads the predictable path. Amber Hadap’s dialogues are okay.

Pushkar Jog does a good job as Nishant. Pooja Sawant is nice as Megha. Smrity Sinha does well as Kreya. Disha Pardeshi is quite alright in the role of Mithila. Pushkaraj Chirputkar lends lovely support as Amey. Chetan Mohture, Madhav Devchakke, Meera Sarang and Danielle Walsh do as desired.

Pushkar Jog’s direction is quite nice but the weak script is a dampener. Music (Rohan Rohan, Suhit Abhyankar and Sai-Piyush) is decent; the title song is appealing. Lyrics (Mandar Cholkar and Aditi Dravid) are of a fine standard. Rohan-Rohan’s background music has merits. Yogesh Koli’s cinematography is excellent. Shruti Arvind Haldipur’s production designing is nice. Editing (Mandar Khanvilkar and Sunil Dattatray Dahifale) is crisp.

On the whole, Musafira will not be able to make a mark at the ticket windows.

Released on 2-2-’24 at Plaza (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity: very ordinary. Opening: very poor.
