DRY SPELL AT BOX-OFFICE AS LAST WEEK’S FILMS UNDERPERFORM

All the new releases of this week took poor starts.

Ek Din fared miserably in 1st week. It netted only around Rs. 2 crore in the first weekend, and another about Rs. 1.25 crore during the weekdays, taking its first week’s total to Rs. 3.25 crore.

Raja Shivaji (dubbed) could not fare well in the first week. It was better in Maharashtra than in the rest of India. The original Marathi version collected far better in 1st week in Maharashtra (read below). The Hindi dubbed version collected Rs. 2.25 crore on the first day. Collections increased only marginally on Saturday which, therefore, closed at Rs. 2.35 crore. The total for Sunday was Rs. 3.25 crore, taking the first weekend’s total to Rs. 7.85 crore. Collections during the weekdays were as follows: Monday – Rs. 0.90 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.85 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.80 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 3.55 crore. In this way, the first week closed at Rs. 11.40 crore.

Pankh Hote To Udd Jaate could anything but fly at the box-office in its first week.

Jaan Abhi Baaki Hai was lifeless at the ticket windows in the first week itself.

Bhooth Bangla commenced its third weekend with a net collection of Rs. 4.25 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday were Rs. 4.15 crore and Rs. 5 crore respectively. After a third weekend total of Rs. 13.40 crore, collections for the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 1.50 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 1.75 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 1.35 crore, Thursday – Rs. 1.30 crore. Therefore, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 5.90 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 19.30 crore. Grand total for 3 weeks: Rs. 132.05 crore.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy (dubbed and the original English versions) netted Rs. 0.63 crore on the first day of the third weekend. Collections on Saturday and Sunday totalled Rs. 0.69 crore and Rs. 0.78 crore respectively, taking the weekend total to Rs. 2.10 crore. Collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.27 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.35 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.29 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.27 crore. Hence the total for the weekdays was Rs. 1.18 crore. In this way, the third week closed at Rs. 3.28 crore. The film, therefore, took its grand total for 3 weeks to Rs. 26.62 crore.

Project Hail Mary (dubbed and the original English versions) managed to yield shares in sixth week too. The sixth weekend started with a take of Rs. 0.39 crore on Friday. Collections on Saturday and Sunday rose to Rs. 0.50 crore and Rs. 0.57 crore respectively. After a sixth weekend total of Rs. 1.46 crore, collections during the weekdays were: Monday – Rs. 0.14 crore, Tuesday – Rs. 0.16 crore, Wednesday – Rs. 0.15 crore, Thursday – Rs. 0.15 crore. In this way, the total for the weekdays was Rs. 0.60 crore. Therefore, the sixth week closed at Rs. 2.06 crore. Grand total for 6 weeks: Rs. 71.69 crore.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge netted Rs. 1 crore on the seventh weekend’s first day. Collections on Saturday and Sunday increased to Rs. 1.15 crore and Rs. 1.30 crore respectively, taking the seventh weekend’s total to Rs. 3.45 crore. After that, collections for each of the four weekdays were Rs. 0.50 crore, taking the total to Rs. 2 crore. Hence the seventh week closed at Rs. 5.45 crore. Grand total for 7 weeks: Rs. 1,063.30 crore.

Raja Shivaji (Marathi) did very well in the first week in Maharashtra.
