‘KAISI YE DOR’ REVIEW | 15 December, 2023

Ojas Entertainment’s Kaisi Ye Dor (UA) is the story of a young man who loves a girl but has to get married to another girl who is his father’s choice for him.

Abhimanyu (Nikhil Pandey) lives in Varanasi. He falls in love with Rashmi (Jashn Agnihotri) who has come from the USA. In fact, their love story starts after Abhimanyu is assigned the task of showing Rashmi around for ten days. However, his father (Brijendra Kala) fixes his marriage with Vidya (Ratna Neelam Pandey). Circumstances force him to marry the girl selected for him by his father. What happens thereafter?

Ratna Neelam Pandey has written a story which doesn’t have even a hint of novelty. Her screenplay is as clichéd as clichéd can be. Besides, the entire drama is so lacklustre that there is hardly any impact of the scenes and the unfolding drama on the audience. Consequently, the proceedings fail to involve the viewers. Some family emotions do touch the heart, but there’s precious little to talk about other than that. Ratna Neelam Pandey’s dialogues are routine.

Nikhil Pandey does a fair job as Abhimanyu. Jashn Agnihotri is okay in the role of Rashmi. Ratna Neelam Pandey is ordinary as Vidya. Brijendra Kala lends able support as Abhimanyu’s father. Sunita Rajwar has her moments as Abhimanyu’s mother. Ashwath Bhatt makes his presence felt. Satyakam Anand, Tulika Banerjee and Satyam Srivastava are adequate. Others fit the bill.

Ratna Neelam Pandey and Sandeep S. Choudhary’s direction is average. There’s nothing in their narration, which stands out. Puneet Avasthi’s music is okay. Lyrics (Sanjay Mishra, M.L. Avasthi and Ratna Neelam Pandey) are alright. D.C. David’s choreography is functional, at best. Background music is routine. Deepak Pandey’s cinematography is below the mark. The Varanasi locales, though, have been well exploited. Sajid Khan’s art direction is fair. Sunil Yadav and Arun D. Yadav’s editing ought to have been tighter.

On the whole, Kaisi Ye Dor is too ordinary to be noticed at the ticket windows.
