‘PRITHVIRAJ’ SHOOTING DISRUPTED BY KARNI SENA | 18 March, 2020

The shooting of Yash Raj Films’ Prithviraj on the outskirts of Jaipur came to a halt on 15th March when around 100 volunteers of the Rajput Karni Sena, led by national president Mahipal Singh Makrana, reached the set in the afternoon and met with director Chandraprakash Dwivedi. They demanded to read the script of the historical, threatening to stop the shooting otherwise.

Since Prithviraj Chauhan, on whose life the film is based, was a Rajput, the Karni Sena said, it wanted to ensure that the filmmaker did not put their warrior in bad light. The Sena said that it would not permit the shooting to progress unless the script was shared with them. The shooting of the Akshay Kumar starrer was stopped for a while but was resumed later.

It may be recalled that the same Karni Sena had slapped Sanjay Leela Bhansali while he was shooting for Padmaavat (then Padmavati) in Jaipur as they thought, he was distorting history.
