Producer Dilip Shetty will make a sequel to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s classic, Anand, in Marathi. The film was announced today (Dec. 29) on the occasion of Rajesh Khanna’s birth anniversary. Hemantkumar Mahale will direct the film which will be based on a play written by Kusumagraj.
When Hrishikesh Mukherjee had gone to Nasik for the release of his Anand, he had requested Kusumagraj to watch the film with him. He also suggested the author to adapt the film into a play. Kusumagraj did write a play by the same name. The Marathi film will be based on this play. It will start where the Hindi Anand had ended.
The roles enacted by Rajesh Khanna (Anand), Amitabh Bachchan (Dr. Bhaskar Banerjee alias Babu Moshai) and Ramesh Deo (Dr. Prakash Kulkarni) will be played by actors who are being finalised.
