Omkar Melodies Film Production’s Sirf Money (UA) is the story about how the quest for money can drive people to desperation.
Rangili (Apoorva Aanand) is fond of dancing and acting. So, her mother (Tasneem Ali) sends her to Bombay to act in films. For this, she mortgages her house in Amritsar for Rs. 5 lakh. It is not at all easy for Rangili to make ends meet in Bombay, leave alone get a break in Bollywood. That’s when she starts dancing in a bar, to earn money. Rangili meets Vikram (Sudesh Berry) who falls in love with her. He gifts her a bungalow and a car and also agrees to make a film to launch her. What’s more, he sends Rs. 15 lakh to Rangili’s mother too so that she can repay the loan amount and free her house of the mortgage. However, Vikram loses it when he realises that Rangili had met and gone around with her college friend from Amritsar, Sonu (Suraj Bhardwaj), in his absence for five days. He leaves her. Sonu had already left Rangili before the end of the five days because he had gotten to know that she was in a relationship with Vikram. What happens thereafter?
Satyavan Chandrakant Naik has written such a silly story that it is beyond comprehension how one can think of making a film based on such a lacklustre story. S.R. Bharti, Jalal Hashmi and Devroop have penned a screenplay which is as predictable as predictable can be. The drama has no excitement, no emotions, no thrills and no surprises or shocks. Even the trio’s dialogues are terribly dull.
Sudesh Berry is okay as Vikram but to think that he would be able to carry a film on his shoulders is foolhardiness. Apoorva Aanand is average as Rangili. Tasneem Ali lends routine support as Rangoli’s mother. Suraj Bhardwaj performs ordinarily as Sonu. Radha Bhardwaj (as Sapna), Sandhya Kaur (as Sandhya), Harmisha Mistri (as Khushbu), Jenny Nation (as Angel), Aman Mishra (as Sapna’s boyfriend, Rahul), Punit Singh (as Khushbu’s boyfriend, Shahnawaz), Shilpi Chugh (as Riya), Abhi Sharma (as Arun), Alina Khan (as Meena Kumari) and Tufail Rigoo (as Aslambhai) pass muster.
Jitendra Vasudha Suresh Keer’s direction is most ordinary. Music (Babli Haque, Shadab Sabri and Vardan Singh) is poor. Lyrics (Hero Boy, N. Ahmed, Sahil Sultanpuri, Jitendra Vasudha Suresh Keer and Satyavan Chandrakant Naik) are functional. Vasu Nadar and Devroop’s choreography is average. Jitendra Achrekar’s camerawork is hardly worth a mention. Sashi Phadte’s art direction is routine. Jitendra Vasudha Suresh Keer’s editing leaves a lot to be desired.
On the whole, Sirf Money won’t make just that — money. It will prove to be a resounding flop.
