Chandra and Maurya Talkies of Bhilai have downed shutters. It would be unfair to blame their closure on the coronavirus lockdown alone but the over-two-month-lockdown must have surely added to its tale of woes. The cinema management put up a notice on the premises that it was downing shutters with effect from the midnight of 30th May, 2020 due to mounting losses since the last two years and the current lockdown. The notice also makes a mention of the fact that the employees will be paid their statutory dues.
It may be mentioned here that several other cinemas in C.P. Berar circuit are facing closure due to heavy and back-breaking losses suffered in the current lockdown.
