‘DHURANDHAR: THE REVENGE’ STREAMS ON OTT: T-SERIES ASKED TO DEPOSIT RS. 50 LAKH IN COURT | 15 May, 2026

The Delhi high court today (May 15) declined to stay the OTT release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge amid a copyright dispute involving the allegedly unauthorised use of the hit Oye Oye song from Tridev. It refused to grant interim relief to Trimurti Films Pvt. Ltd. which had moved the court, seeking an injunction against the use of the original song from its film, Tridev, and its recreated version in Dhurandhar: The Revenge and on streaming platforms.

However, Justice Tushar Rao Gedela directed Super Cassettes to deposit Rs. 50 lakh with the Registrar General within four weeks. The amount will be placed in an interest-bearing FDR with an auto renewal  clause until the final outcome of the case.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge, meanwhile, began streaming on Netflix from today.

Trimurti Films told the court that its 1988 agreement with Super Cassettes granted only limited audio rights and did not authorise the synchronisation and adaptation of the song in any new film. It alleged infringement of its rights over the literary, musical and sound recording components linked to the track.

The respondents, including B62 Studios Pvt. Ltd. and Jio Studios, contested Trimurti’s plea and accused it of withholding material facts. They said, songs from Tridev had been featured earlier in films like Azhar and KGF: Chapter 1 without any legal challenge from Trimurti Films.

The court refused to stay the release and observed that monetary compensation could adequately address the issue if Trimurti ultimately succeeded in establishing ownership and infringement during trial proceedings.
