‘MAYAN’ (DUBBED) REVIEW | 22 May, 2026

Released last week in U.P. and East Punjab, Fox Crox Studios and GVKM Elephant Pictures’ Mayan (dubbed from the Tamil film of the same name) is the story of a software engineer who learns that he is the reincarnation of Lord Shiva and is destined to bring about the end of the world in 13 days.

J. Rajes Kanna’s story is so half-baked that it is not funny. His screenplay is vague and weird because many things in the drama just don’t make sense. Part of the drama comprises animation sequences which look like a job poorly done and which seem to have been resorted to because shooting those sequences with real characters would’ve cost a lot of money. Dialogues are dull.

Vinod Mohan is weak as software engineer Aadhi. Bindu Madhavi is so-so as Devi. Aadukalam Naren is not impressive as Aadhi’s boss. Sai Dheena is passable as a loan shark. John Vijay passes muster. Ganja Karuppu, Raja Simman, Sriranjani, Ranjana Nachiyar and Pia Bajpai (in a cameo appearance) lend routine support.

J. Rajes Kanna’s direction is weak. M.S. Jones Rupert’s music is not ear-pleasing. Lyrics are functional. Nanda Gopal’s choreography is nothing to dance about. Background music is weak. K. Arun Prasath’s camerawork is below the mark. Dinesh Kasi’s action and stunt scenes lack thrill or excitement. A. Vanaraj’s art direction is found lacking. M.R. Rejeesh’s editing is loose. Dubbing is ordinary.

On the whole, Mayan is a poor show all the way.
