‘PRIDE’ REVIEW | 2 August, 2024

Released last week in Bombay, U.P. (at Lucknow) and C.P. Berar (at Raipur), Omaks Production’s Pride (UA) is the story of a girl who wants to become a doctor. She seeks the help of a politician when she can’t secure admission, but gets cheated by him. Things change when she meets a boy who runs an NGO. He falls in love with her and takes it upon himself to change her world.

Pankaj K.R. Virat has penned a story which is so routine that it’s not funny. His screenplay is replete with clichéd situations and scenes. The drama lacks emotions of any kind. Virat’s dialogues are dull.

Mahakshay Chakraborty is average. Aishwarya Raj Bhakuni is ordinary. Arif Zakaria lends routine support. Shubhangi Latkar is so-so. Abram Puttan passes muster. Rajoo Shreshtha is passable. Others provide weak support.

Pankaj K.R. Virat’s direction is poor. Sukumar Dutta’s background music lacks appeal. Rupam Chetaipatra’s camerawork is dull. Editing (Nasir Hakim Ansari) is loose.

On the whole, Pride will bring nothing but shame at the box-office.
