‘RAJA RANI’ (MARATHI) REVIEW | 18 October, 2024

Sonai Film Creation’s Raja Rani (Marathi; UA) is a love story of Raja (Rohan Patil) and Rani (Vaishnavi Shinde).

Govardhan Doltade has written an absolutely routine love story and a screenplay which affords no novelty whatsoever. Even his dialogues are dull.

Rohan Patil does an ordinary job as Raja. Vaishnavi Shinde is average in the role of Rani. Bharat Ganeshpure makes his mark. Suresh Vishwakarma is adequate. Shivaji Doltade is so-so. Madhavi Juvekar has her moments. Bhakti Chavan lends routine support. Tanaji Galgunde passes muster. Suraj Chavan is barely passable. Nikita Kshirsagar, Usha Kale, Vasanti Khairnar, Puja Deore, Kartik Doltade, Gokul Khairnar, Laxman Kamble, Govardhan Doltade, Bibishan Chavan, Daulatrao Jadhav, Akshay Kale, Pari Patil, Sari Patil, Prashant Patil, Rakesh Kapadne, Sujit Magar, Shubham Bhairagi, Asha Jadhav, Ramdas Shinde, Prasad Deore, Ali, Kishore Guru, Samadhan Gaikwad and the others don’t make much of a mark.

Shivaji Doltade’s direction is weak. P. Shankaram’s music is functional. Lyrics (by Govardhan Doltade and Daulatrao Jadhav) are nothing to dance about. Rohan Kandera, Manasi Kowale and Hight Manju’s choreography is routine. Vijay Narayan Gawande’s background music is dull. Krishna Naikar’s cinematography is ordinary. Mahesh Kore’s art direction is poor. Vanky UDV’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Raja Rani is a weak fare with bleak box-office chances.

Released 18-10-’24 at Jai Hind Mukta A2 (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru August Entertainment. Publicity & opening: poor.
