‘UFFF YEH SIYAPAA’ REVIEW | 5 September, 2025

Luv Films’ Ufff Yeh Siyapaa (UA) is a silent film in the comedy genre. Kesari Lal Singh (Sohum Shah) finds himself in a mess when his wife, Pushpa (Nushhrat Bharucha), leaves him as she is convinced that he has been flirting with their neighbour, Kamini (Nora Fatehi). Although there’s no truth in this, he is unable to convince her. As if that weren’t bad enough, a drug parcel reaches his house due to a wrong delivery. And then, a dead body turns up at his home. Before he knows it, another corpse lands at his residence. Police inspector Hasmukh (Omkar Kapoor) arrives at the ‘crime scene’ to investigate, but he has his own personal agenda. What happens thereafter?

Since it is a silent film, it does not have a single dialogue. G. Ashok has written a story which is so silly for a silent film that even the comedy does not seem funny. G. Ashok’s screenplay is irritating and serves to confuse the viewers. However, the biggest drawback is that the comedy rarely comes through. A thin section of the audience might find the proceedings funny, but that would simply not be enough.

In a silent film, it is imperative for the artistes to excel in their performances. But here, the acting is mostly below the mark or average except for two-three artistes. Sohum Shah is okay as Kesari Lal Singh. Nushhrat Bharucha does well as Ravanya but is so-so as Pushpa. Nora Fatehi is average in the role of Kamini. Omkar Kapoor doesn’t impress much as police officer Hasmukh. Sharib Hashmi is good as Goonga. Koranani Dhanraj is excellent as Gundu (who pretends to be blind). Sadanand Patil (as Janak Tiwari), Ujjwal Kumar (as Maakhan Yadav), Charlie (as Bablu), Vanita Kharat (as Malti), Kailash Waghmare (as Manohar), Ashok Pathak (as Rajpal), Sukhwinder Singh (as Pushpa’s father), Aruna Shetty (as Pushpa’s mother), Vipin Katyal (as Bheem), Vijay Dogra (as Karan), Vimal Bhatia (as Arjun), Brij Bhushan and Poonam Preet (as the neighbours), Swapnil Dhongde and Amit Jaiswal (as the imaginary policemen), Neeraj Kumar (as the delivery boy), Tanuj Vyas (as Shyam), Anjani Khanna (as Dharamraj), Anoop (as the coconut vendor), Lagan Sharma (as the parking attendant), Akash Sharma (as the cold drink vendor), Vladyslav and Dilya (as the foreigner couple), Lalit Kumar Malla (as the Chinese man), Devendra Tiwari (as the mechanic), Raj Thakur (as the drunken man), Lucky Rajput, Ayushmaan Chaudhary and Medhanshi Kaushik (all three as the theatre persons), Raju Patel (as Pandit), Sushmita Sur (as Rajpal’s wife), Durgaprasad Kunapareddi (as Paltunath), Vicky Sidana (as the tantrik), Ishita Gupta (as the dentist) and Rajdeep Gupta (as the manager) lend dull support.

G. Ashok’s direction is weak. He has not been able to engage the viewers because his narration is dull. A.R. Rahman’s music may not be outstanding but it is one of the few redeeming factors in the film. Kumaar and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics are of standard. A.R. Rahman’s background music is quite nice. Nuthan Nagaraj’s cinematography is proper. Sidhant Malhotra’s production designing is okay. Chetan M. Solanki’s editing ought to have been better.

On the whole, Ufff Yeh Siyapaa is such a poor show that it will bomb at the box-office.

Released on 5-9-’25 at Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru PVR Inox Pictures. Publicity & opening: weak. …….Also released all over. Opening was dull everywhere.
