‘MAIN ACTOR NAHIN HOON’ REVIEW | 8 May, 2026

Mumba Devi Motion Pictures and Side Hero Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.’s Main Hero Nahin Hoon (A) is the story of a retired banker and an actress.

Mouni (Chitrangada Satapura) is an actress who lives in Bombay. To supplement her income, she also works as a delivery girl in a store. Adnan Beig (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) is a retired banker living in Germany with his daughter, Nazia (Meenakshi Arundhari). His wife has died. He is suffering from depression and anxiety. Adnan agrees to audition for an international project because daughter Nazia tells him to do so. Mouni and Adnan give their auditions online. Mouni has to act like an alcoholic while Adnan is given the role of a counsellor. Adnan is mightily impressed with Mouni’s acting abilities and requests her to teach him acting. So Mouni starts teaching Adnan acting online. In the process, they start talking about their personal lives too. Another audition follows the next day, in which Adnan also excels. But then Adnan gets to know something because of which he stops talking to the former. What happens thereafter?

Aditya Kripalani has written a story that is very thin. His screenplay moves on one track only, because of which boredom creeps in pretty fast. The drama gets monotonous and often bores the audience because there isn’t much happening. Aditya Kripalani’s dialogues are okay. Many of the dialogues are in English, which will restrict the appeal of the drama to the viewers in the big cities.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui acts well in the role of Adnan Beig. Chitrangada Satapura is average as Mouni. Meenakshi Arundhari lends decent support in a brief role as Nazia. Vibhavari Deshpande is alright as the counsellor. Aarti Desai is okay as the store aunty.

Aditya Kripalani’s direction is dull. Rabby Shergill’s music is so-so. There is only one song in the film. Lyrics are alright. Aditi Ramesh and Amlan Ray’s background music is average. Cinematography (by Rishika Baruah, Sumit Singh and Ajinkya Pandit) is of a good standard. Hrishikesh Petwe’s editing leaves something to be desired.

On the whole, Main Actor Nahin Hoon is a dull fare with poor box-office chances.

Released on 8-5-’26 at Metro Inox (daily 1 show) and other cinemas of Bombay thru Platoon One Distribution. Publicity & opening: dull. …….Also released all over. Opening was poor everywhere.
