Over a hundred teams consisting of a total of about 1,000 members of the Lucknow administration and the Uttar Pradesh health department have been given the task of tracking down all the possible persons who singer Kanika Kapoor came in touch with during her stay in Lucknow from 11th March. The singer tested positive for coronavirus on 20th. While an FIR has been filed against her for not taking precautions to self-quarantine, Kanika herself has accused the administration of being lax in testing her despite her pleas. She had travelled abroad and returned to Bombay on 9th March. From Bombay, she reached Lucknow on 11th. She stayed in a hotel in Lucknow from 14th to 16th.
Kanika attended several parties and social gatherings. It is believed that the South African cricket team stayed in the same hotel as Kanika. The team was there to play the ODI which was ultimately called off. The singer allegedly also attended a television news channel’s annual conclave. The combing exercise is being done in accordance with the Union health and family welfare ministry’s standard operating procedure to contain the coronavirus.
