After the special court extended Rhea Chakraborty’s judicial custody till 6th October, her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, filed a bail application in the Bombay high court today (23rd September). The court is likely to hear the application tomorrow (24th). It may be recalled that Rhea was arrested two weeks back in a drugs case related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Rhea was in a live-in relationship with Sushant who allegedly committed suicide on 14th June by hanging himself at his Bandra (Bombay) residence.
The bail plea of Rhea in the high court mentioned that she is only 28 years old and had gone through a lot of trauma due to four investigations — by the Bombay police, the CBI, the ED and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The plea added that Sushant used to consume ganja even before she entered his life. She used to sometimes get him the drug and, at times, also paid for it. It added that the NCB was deliberately trying to invoke stringent charges against her and her brother, Showik, who is also under arrest.
