HALGI SHAAN MAHARASHTRACHI (Marathi) | 25 May, 2019

Nitin Thorat and Jeur Films’ Halgi Shaan Maharashtrachi (Marathi; meaning ‘Halgi (a musical instrument) is the pride of Maharashtra’) is about the Halgi musical instrument.

Sukhdev loves to play the Halgi. He lives in Harwadi village with his wife and child, Kisna. He participates in the annual inter-village Halgi competition but is killed by a jealous Bagya from the neighbouring Morwadi village. Sukhdev’s son, Kisna, wants to win the music competition and he promises his dying father that he would fulfil his dream.

Is Kisna able to avenge his father’s murder by winning the Halgi competition?

Nitin Thorat’s script is devoid of entertainment and is rather boring. The story is simplistic while the screenplay moves at a snail’s pace. Even the dialogues are dull.

Performances are mediocre. Sanjay Mohite, Dr. Rajshri Khatawkar, Sunil Godbole, Dawood Shaikh and Sameer Shelar do average jobs.

Dawood Shaikh’s direction is terribly weak. Dhananjay Dhumal’s music is dull. Camerawork (Shirish Udale) is ordinary. Waman Chhaya and Vijay Kochikar’s editing is loose.

On the whole, Halgi Shaan Maharashtrachi is a flop fare.
