Piya Sengupta was elected president of the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) at the first meeting of the newly-elected executive committee held today (1st October) in Calcutta. Subhas Dutta and Subash Sen (who was co-opted after he lost the elections to the executive committee) were elected vice presidents. Santanu Raychaudhury was elected hon. treasurer. Asish Banerjee will be the secretary.
All those who were declared elected to the executive committee on 29th September were:
Producer Section: Piya Sengupta (136 votes), Pallabi Chatterjee (123), Anup Sengupta (114), Pradip Churiwal (101), Bijay Kalyani (98), Samiran Das (94) and Reshmi Mitra (94).
Distributor Section: Saroj Mukherjee (41), Satadeep Saha (36), Nemai Panja (35), Ranjoy Majumder (33), Shyamal Dutta (32), Subhas Dutta (32) and Jhuma Paul (31).
Exhibitor Section: Santanu Raychaudhury (40), Rabindranath Banik (36), Ramkrishna Hazra (35), Amar Chakraborty (35), Madhusudan Das (35), Chiranjit Saha (34) and Ratan Saha (34).
Rajkumar Jain was declared elected unopposed from the Associate Section.

Besides the executive committee, elected at the EIMPA elections on 29th September, the following were elected chairmen at the same elections: Bijay Kalyani was elected chairman of the Producer Section, Saroj Mukherjee, of the Distributor Section, and Ratan Saha, of the Exhibitor Section.
