Released last week in Delhi and Nizam, Aatmarth Production and Bhakti Trust’s Shrimad Rajchandra (animation) traces the journey of the Jain poet, mystic, philosopher, scholar and reformer. He claimed to have recollection of his past lives, when he was just seven years old. Shrimad Rajchandra is best known for his teachings on Jainism and his spiritual guidance to Mahatma Gandhi. He also had outstanding memory and even wrote philosophical poetry.
The story and screenplay are in the nature of a docu-drama and will, therefore, not hold much appeal for film buffs. Its appeal is further restricted because it is in animation format. Directors Bhairav Kothari and Bharat Kothari haven’t been able to make an interesting and engaging film. Dharam Bhatt’s music is dull. Animation is below average.
On the whole, Shrimad Rajchandra is a flop show.
