‘CHAL ZINDAGI’ REVIEW | 26 May, 2023

Vivaan Filmz Production’s Chal Zindagi (UA) is the film of three random people who set out to nowhere in particular on their motorcycles. They meet in Udaipur, become friends and then go to Ladakh.

Sadanand (Sanjay Mishra) buys an expensive motorcycle and plans to leave his house in Udaipur alongwith friend Rambabu (Rakesh Pandey), because he doesn’t approve of his daughter-in-law’s attitude towards him. Sana (Shannon K.) lives with her father (Amit Sharma) and stepmother (Vandana Chopra) in Bombay. She hates her stepmother as she feels, the stepmother is out to kill her. Sana loves music. She sets out on a tour on her motorcycle. Sahil (Vivek Dahiya) lives in Ahmedabad. His college vacations are on and so he takes friend Chandan (Vikram Pratap) along and sets out on friend Aksh’s (Shourya Syal) motorbike.

Sana meets Chhota Rana (Vivaan Sharma), a 10-year-old orphan, in a hotel in Udaipur. Sensing that he is being ill-treated by his uncle, Narpat Rana (Nishant Kumar), Sana runs away with Chhota Rana. Narpat Rana catches hold of Sana to beat her up, but Sahil and Chandan reach there in the nick of time and save Sana. At the police station, Sadanand meets Sana and Sahil. All the three, along with their companions, decide to go to Ladakh. What happens during this journey and thereafter forms the crux of the drama.

Vivek Sharma has penned a story which is not at all exciting. His screenplay is also dull. There is a little bit of comedy, almost nil romance and zero emotional value. At the end of it all, the viewers wonder what the intention behind the film was. Vivek Sharma’s dialogues are ordinary.

Sanjay Mishra is good, as always. He plays Sadanand with sincerity. Shannon K. does a fair job as Sana. Vivek Dahiya is okay in the role of Sahil. Rakesh Pandey is so-so as Rambabu. Vikram Pratap is ordinary as Chandan. Vivaan Sharma is average in the role of Chhota Rana. Mita Vasisht is alright in a tiny role as Sadhana. Sandeep Gaur lends average support as ex-armyman Shakti Singh. Amit Sharma passes muster in the role of Sana’s father. Vandana Chopra is okay as Sana’s stepmother. Nishant Kumar (as Narpat Rana), Shourya Syal (as Aksh) and Ashok Vyas (as police inspector Sachin Gujar) pass muster.

Vivek Sharma’s direction is dull. The Lost Symbols’ music is fair but background music is not too impactful. Vivek Sharma’s lyrics are okay. Mehul Kapadia’s choreography is dull. Camerawork (Ashish Rai and Shubh Thakur) is so-so. Satwant Bal’s action and stunt scenes lack thrill. Suraj’s art direction hardly deserves mention. Editing (Shiva Bayappa and Arjun S. Phadtare) needed to be sharper.

On the whole, Chal Zindagi will meet with a disastrous fate at the ticket windows.
