Once again, the gang reunites for yet another excursion. The venue is London and the occasion is the 75th birthday of Indu (Suhas Joshi). Therefore, Indu invites all her friends to London for the birthday party. Nirmala (Nirmiti Sawant) reaches London with her daughter-in-law, Tanya (Rinku Rajguru). Vaishali (Suchitra Bandekar) comes with her niece, Manali (Shivani Surve). Meeta (Kshitee Jog) and Kabir (Siddharth Chandekar) also reach London. In London, Krutika (Sayali Sanjeev) has made all arrangements for the stay of guests at her mother-in-law’s villa. How the guests come to know of a secret about Indu and how their inter-personal relations with their own near and dear ones change while they are in London form the crux of the story.
Hemant Dhome has written a wholesome story which has a good dose of comedy, a dash of emotions and a bit of romance too. If the story about so many characters is engaging, Irawati Karnik’s screenplay is pretty good. The comedy evokes laughter at a lot of places. The comic scenes of Nirmala, especially, are very entertaining. The feel-good ending is heartwarming. Some emotions touch the heart. Irawati Karnik’s dialogues are very nice.
Suhas Joshi does a good job as Indu. Nirmiti Sawant excels in the role of Nirmala. Kshitee Jog is good as Meeta. Suchitra Bandekar does well as Vaishali. Shivani Surve is wonderful as Manali. Rinku Rajguru performs ably as Tanya. Sayali Sanjeev has her moments as Krutika. Siddharth Chandekar leaves a mark as Kabir. Gandhar Babre is okay as Ankush. Jack McGinn is alright in the role of Krutika’s brother-in-law, Alister. Anant Jog has his moments as Nirmala’s husband, Vasantrao Konde-Patil. Maithili Patwardhan leaves a mark as Meeta’s daughter, Chingu. Others are adequate.
Hemant Dhome’s direction is excellent. Not only has Dhome narrated the drama in a very engaging style but he has also extracted very good work from out of his actors. Amitraj’s music is appealing. The ‘Marathi pori’ song in the best. The title song is also quite nice. Kshitij Patwardhan’s lyrics are meaningful. Sujit Kumar’s choreography is fair. Aditya Bedekar’s background music is impactful. Satyajeet Shobha Shriram’s cinematography is lovely. Shamim Khopkar’s art direction is appropriate. Faisal Mahadik’s editing is very sharp.
On the whole, Jhimma 2 is a surefire hit because it offers wholesome entertainment for the old and the young, classes and masses, girls and boys, men and women.
